Overview

Hack the 6ix is the largest student-run, not-for-profit summer hackathon located in the heart of Toronto. Now in its 13th iteration, Hack the 6ix has established itself as a key player in the Toronto tech ecosystem as a platform for students to present their ideas of the future.

Every year, we select 450+ participants from a pool of 3000+ remarkable developers, designers, and innovators. In 2026, we organized our 12th iteration with 130+ projects submitted over the weekend, to wide acclaim. Join us in organizing Hack the 6ix 2027!

This document is the Hack the 6ix Policy Manual. It lists all of the roles and responsibilities that the Hack the 6ix organizing team will take on, as well as additional noteworthy information.

Organizing Hack the 6ix presents an incredible opportunity to plan and execute an event attended by over 450+ participants from around the world. You’d get the chance to work with students across Canada who share a passion for technology, interact with sponsors and other industry leaders, and best of all, get a lot of free food and merch (who doesn’t love free)!

Hack the 6ix places high value on the organizer experience. Our number one goal is to make sure our organizers are having fun! You can think of us like a big friend group who are planning a trip hackathon that WILL make it out the group chat. Work hard, play hard!

At Hack the 6ix, we believe no idea is ever too absurd! We encourage all organizers to share new ideas, raise concerns, and provide feedback. You take full ownership of your tasks and directly have an impact on our participants. We also value a growth mindset; We don’t expect you to know everything. We recognize that skills can always be taught, but mindset and passion can’t.

Recruitment Process

Written Application

Submit organizer application on the application form before September 13th @ 11:59 EST. This is just to get some preliminary information about your background and experiences. You may apply for as many roles as you wish!
